Unreal Explorations

During summer 2018, I set out to learn how to work with real-time rendering. I found Unreal Engine 4 to be a suitable challenge, and am currently working every day on learning new methods to make my renders shine.

The finished render.

My first project was simple enough; I made a small scene with transparent glass, apples with a little subsurface scattering, a ceramic bowl, and a metallic jar. I originally intended for the scene to be some simple practice to keep up my skillset, but then it evolved into the first in a series of projects aimed at increasing my understanding of UE4.

In this project, I found that creating accurate glass, subsurface scatter and metal would take some research into Unreal.

The models with no surfacing.

As the summer progresses, I will continue to post more projects.
